Next year it will be 75 years since the end of the second world war. The government want to celebrate VE day, the day the war in Europe officially ended. As a result they have moved the Mayday bank holiday to Friday May 8th.
At our recent meeting Upwell Parish Council decided it would like to mark the anniversary by having a weekend of events over the 8th to the 10th of May in and around the parish of Upwell.
We have already had some exciting ideas of events we can stage and things we can do but we think this should be a whole community event and therefore we want lots of you to get involved in giving your ideas and helping to support the events. Therefore we have arranged a launch meeting in Upwell Hall for anyone who wants to get involved to attend.
The meeting will be at:
Wednesday November 13th
Please come and share your ideas and enthusiasm so we can stage a memorable weekend to celebrate the efforts and eventual victory of our parents and grandparents in the war against tyranny that has so shaped our world over the last 75 years.
